Our mission is to support the development of our snow sport athletes in the Okemo Community
Dear Okemo Competition Center Families,
It is hard to believe it is February! While it has been a challenging year, I am thankful for everyone’s diligence in following the guidelines and making the most out of this season. Though it may seem a long way off now, it is already time to start planning for next winter and fingers crossed for more normalcy!
Many of you are already familiar with Okemo Mountain School, but for those of you who are not, it is an amazing opportunity to access more training time and a specialized academic program for your student-athlete. Okemo Mountain School is an independent school approved by the Vermont State Board of Education. We are dedicated to delivering a rigorous academic curriculum while providing intense on-snow training that would not be possible in a traditional school setting. We offer various enrollment options during the winter months. We generally accept students beginning in the seventh grade, but will consider fifth and sixth graders who demonstrate the skills and maturity to handle the rigors of our program. We offer programs in alpine ski racing, freestyle/freeride skiing, and snowboarding. Our student-athletes have followed impressive paths post-graduation – we look forward to working with your student-athlete next!
Please take a look at the informational materials I have attached and explore our website for a more in-depth look at life at OMS. You can also access the attached document, as well as a link to our online application form, on our website at https://www.okemomountainschool.org/how-to-apply/. Our priority admissions deadline is April 1.
Feel free to contact me by phone or email with any questions or to discuss options for your student-athlete for next winter. Ashley Belcher, our Admissions Coordinator, is also available at [email protected] or 802-228-1514. Final tuition rates for 2021-2022 will be set by late March – please contact us then to obtain a copy of the tuition rate document, or look for it on our website.
While we are unable to offer in-person shadow days as usual this year, Ashley will be hosting a Zoom Q & A on Thursday, March 4th at 7pm to answer all of your general questions about OMS and the admissions process. To register to join the Q & A, click HERE! We are also happy to set up a virtual tour of the school. If you are interested in doing so, please email Ashley to coordinate. If you have athletic/discipline specific questions, your coaches are also a great resource, so don’t hesitate to reach out to them!
Best wishes to your athletes for a successful rest of the season,
Mariel
