U12 and U10 Weekend Update 1/11 and 1/12

Hello U12 and U10 Families,
I hope this email finds you well and staying warm!!  It is cold up here today….after being very warm yesterday!  Such is January!  Another couple inches of fresh snow yesterday though and we continue to have awesome conditions!
This weekend is easy – regular schedule and meeting place both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday 1/11 will be SL and Skills Assessment training.  We will focus primarily on Stubby SL, one ski skiing, and pole plant.  If your child has SL armor, they can wear it.  If space permits, we may set a small full gate course.
Sunday 1/12 will be GS training.  All U10s will have the chance to train on GS courses, including full and stubby gate progression courses to prepare them for their upcoming GS race.
Looking ahead, 1/18 and 1/19 will both be GS training days.  There will be no training on 1/20, but the U10s have a race (see below).
Upcoming Save the Dates/Info:
Monday, January 20th: U10 GS race at Pico.  I will send out LOTS of info on this race (and race day in general) next week, but just wanted to be sure all U10 families were planning ahead for this day since it is a Monday (MLK holiday though).  There will not be U12 training at home on this day.
Sunday, January 26th: U12 Super G camp at Okemo – SECOND YEAR U12s (2002 birth year) ONLY.  Information will be forthcoming on this.  Space is not limited, but we do reserve the right to limit a second year U12s participation based on skill development readiness, as this camp may not be appropriate for athletes who are new to U12s this year. I will send much more info later!
Friday, February 7th:  MVC U12 and U10 Slalom Camp at Quechee.  This is tons of fun each year!  I will send out an email requesting sign ups to enter a lottery in a week or so, but just wanted to get it on your calendar.   Each year the camp fills very quickly, so this year we will do a lottery system.  You will have a 48 hour window to enter the lottery and then participants will be selected randomly.  I anticipate being able to bring at 20-30 athletes. Please do not email me now to sign up!
February 10 – 14th: OMS Valentine Victory Camp – This is similar in format to the Holiday Hammer Camp, but will be open to all U12/10s including first years.  I will send out A TON of info on this later, but the basics are that it is 3 days of on-hill training with academic study halls and dryland training at OMS and 2 days of full day on hill training.  The cost is $425 for the week. Again, just wanted to give you a heads up on this – more info and sign ups to follow! Please do not email me now to sign up!
February Break Week: As a part of the regular Okemo Competition Center program, we will have training the week of February 17th with one day off dependent on weather – likely Wednesday if weather is good the whole week.  There is no extra charge for this week, but there is also no academic or dryland portion – they are just regular training days like weekends.  If your child does not have school break that week or you have to work, do not worry – it is definitely not mandatory to attend!
That’s all for now!  See you Saturday!
