End of the Year Open and U12/10 Training 12/29-12/31

Hello U12 and U10 Families,

I hope this finds you well and excited for the incoming snow!  You will find below information regarding the End of the Year Open for those of you whose athletes are registered to race, as well as reminders of the training schedule for tomorrow through Saturday.
End of the Year Open Race – Friday 12/30:
Despite the snow in the forecast, the plan is still to hold the End of the Year Open on Friday.  If anything changes, I will let you know.  Registration will be in the upstairs of the Competition Center (by Peter Cornish’s office) from 7 – 8 am.  Please have your athlete go during this time to collect their bib.  Have them put their bib on immediately (over their GS suit, but under their jacket) and remind them not to take it off or lose it!
Coaches will meet athletes at 8:10 am at the bottom of Wardance near the Yurt to go for warm up runs and inspection.
The first run will begin at 9:30 am.  The U12s will run first in the running order; all U12 girls and then all U12 boys.  Their bib number will reflect their start number.  Second run will likely be reverse order within gender and age group.  Still all U12 girls and then all U12 boys before U14s etc, but the last U12 girl will go first and so on.
There will likely be a re-set for second run, which will mean there will be a second run inspection.  Athletes should listen to their coaches for instructions on timing of inspection and second run.  Unless there are concerns about weather or length of the race, all first run DNFs and DSQs will get a second run.
Just to reiterate, training for the rest of the week (unchanged from last week’s info):
Thursday 12/29GS skis.  Full gate training for those athletes who are fundamentally ready for it and/or racing in the End of the Year Open.
Friday 12/30: End of the Year Open (see details above).  SL skis for freeskiing and drills for those not racing.  Athletes not racing should meet coaches at the Top of the AB Quad as usual at 8:30 am and 12 pm.
Saturday 12/31SL skis (no armor) – freeskiing, drills, and more Skills Quest.
Sunday 1/1: No Training
Looking ahead to 1/7 and 1/8 – On 1/7 we will be training Skills Quest so athletes will be on SL skis.  On 1/8 U12s will be at Pico for their Skills Day (more info to come next week) and U10s will train GS at home.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday week and Happy New Year!
