– OMARA / USSA National Club Day
Old, New Borrowed ….  Red, White and Blue !

National Club Day 021514On Saturday, February 15th OMARA will participate in the first inaugural USSA National Club Day.  In a sign of support for our young athletes and the US team representing us in Sochi, we’re asking all families to come out adorned with some red, white and blue.  Please see the press release for details on significance of the day.

Saturday morning, all athletes will meet according to normal plans (as always, stay up-to-date with individual coaches’ blog posts for details).  Shortly after 9 am all groups will proceed with their coaches and assemble near the top of Wardance.  We’ll be small distributing flags to all athletes prior to kicking off the brief ski parade at 9.40 am.  We’d ask that parents show their support as spectators near the finish area of the Wardance trail.  Posterboard cards for our Okemo Olympians — Julia Ford and Hannah Teter —  will be awaiting signatures at the bottom of the trail.  Donald Dill and Okemo’s videographer will be on hand to capture the event.  Training will resume promptly at the conclusion of the parade.

– OMARA Membership Books and our new co-branded OMARA / Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce Membership Cards will be available for pickup from Veronica Bonnet on Saturday morning at National Club Day.  She’ll be positioned near the timing tower/yurt and thereafter, till about noon, at Sugar House.  We’ll set up additional distribution times as needed during the upcoming holiday week. For questions, please contact Christy Danforth at [email protected].

– Comedy Night on Feb 22nd  will sell out!  We’d encourage anyone interested to get your tickets ASAP.  Veronica Bonnet will have tickets at National Club Day.  Other board members, including Allie Laurion and Ed Kelleher are also equipped with a limited supply of tickets. Tuesday, 2/18
Hopefuls Race on Bull Run

Yes, folks are watching for trend and direction of a storm headed up the coast – level of impact uncertain.  Current forecast calls for a few inches during the day on Thursday with heavier accumulation Thursday eve, total accumulation 12-14 inches.   Click the link (above, in blue) for an up-to-date view.

The mountain remains in excellent shape following the snow of last week – and with more snow in the forecast for Thursday, conditions will further improve.  Maybe time to venture into the woods with something other than hard-biting carver skis? As of this writing, 113 trails of packed powder.

 And staying in tune?
As always, please consult with our local shops.  For me, with additional snow on the way and cold temps, I’m feeling kind of blue.  (Wax, that is.)  After all, the prospect of fresh snow has me smiling.
