I am originally from Northern New Jersey and Moved to Vermont 3 years ago. I used to manage a snowboard/Skate shop in NJ and started snowboarding 7 years ago.  I immediately fell in love with the freedom of the sport as I came from a ski background.  I shed my sticks and concentrated on just snowboarding.I started instructing at Okemo Mountain and coaching the Green Mountain Union High School snowboard team.  I enjoyed instructing but found coaching and watching the athlete’s progress to be more rewarding. I joined the OMST team of coaches in 2009.   When I am not out on the hill I work as a Gardener/Landscape designer.   I am currently in school to get my degree in Landscape and Garden Design.  I can also be found on the tennis court, running, and hiking.

Gabe Vastola
OMST/Groms Coach
On skis at four years old, and snowboarding by age 13, sliding somehow down the mountain has always been a major part of my life.  I have always been they type of person who gets those “snow dreams” every year around late August… just around the same time as when the new gear arrives in stores. I attended a college where I knew riding opportunities would be readily available, and by the time I graduated I had realized that snowboarding was going to be a major part of my life. My love for snowboarding sent me to places in search of longer seasons and deeper snow, It has provided me with relationships with amazing people and left me with countless memories that I wouldn’t know what I’d do without. When I’m not snowboarding, I look forward to spending time at home with my wife, Emma, and our dog, Luma.  I also enjoy traveling, backpacking, camping, golfing, and hammocking.
