Matt Fortuna
Assistant Head Coach OMST/OMS

Matt has been coaching for the past 8 seasons including coaching the local high school snowboard team in 2004, followed by some private coaching for 2 years.  The past 3 seasons he have been coaching with the GMST team.Matt started competing in middle school in USSA and USASA contests when he was young and then moved up to the Open and Grand Prix Tour for 4 years or so.  He was then invited to train with the US team for 2 years and was invited to the Salt Lake Olympic Games to do a 1/4 Pipe exhibition.
I am originally from Northern New Jersey and Moved to Vermont 3 years ago. I used to manage a snowboard/Skate shop in NJ and started snowboarding 9 years ago.  I immediately fell in love with the freedom of the sport as I came from a ski background.  I shed my sticks and concentrated on just snowboarding.I started instructing at Okemo Mountain and coaching the Green Mountain Union High School snowboard team.  I enjoyed instructing but found coaching and watching the athlete’s progress to be more rewarding. I joined the OMST team of coaches in 2009.   When I am not out on the hill I work as a Gardener/Landscape designer.   I am currently in school to get my degree in Landscape and Garden Design.  I can also be found on the tennis court, running, and hiking.

Eddie grew up in Florida in and around the skate and surf scene competing in ESASA in the bodyboarding class. After a trip to Colorado in 1995 he fell in love with snowboarding and for the next couple of years traveled, he snowboarded as much as possible. He moved to VT in 1997 and taught snowboarding at Okemo. Having great success as an instructor he wanted to take things to a higher level and along with Gordon Robbins and Rob Bevier he helped start The Program (now known as Amplitude).  After two years coaching The Program, he was offered the job as head coach of OMS. During his time at OMS he traveled extensively with the athletes to competitions all over the US and New Zealand where he also held summer camps for the OMS athletes.
