Meet the 2012/2013 FREESTYLE Team Coaches!

Lenny Ancuta

This is Lenny Ancuta’s 6th year coaching Okemo Freestyle and his first as head coach. He is a former mogul competitor at KMS then a Freeride competitor and graduate of Okemo Mountain School. Lenny spent five years competing on the A mogul circuit and three years competing at pro level freeskiing events. He has hiked and skied big mountain terrain all over the world and has filmed with 4BI9.  Lenny spends most of his winter coaching the freeriders, but occasionally gets back to his roots and shreds bumps with our mogul team.

Mike Bruno

This is Mike Bruno’s 10th year coaching Freestyle at Okemo, in addition to having been one of Okemo Freestyle’s early team members back in the 90’s. Mike does it all and coaches all of our teams from freshstart freestyle up to A freeride. Mike has coached our team at Junior Olympic and National Championship levels as well as stood in the start at the Finals of several pro level open comps. He was around for the birth of – as well as done a great deal of filming for – companies such as 4BI9 and New Intelligent Group.

Megan

Megan Ellmaker is taking the season off from the A freeride competition circuit to coach the fresh start freestyle team. She has been on the Okemo Freeride team for several seasons and has worked as an Okemo ski instructor; we welcome her experience to the coaching staff. Last season she had several podium appearances in rail jams and slopestyle contests and earned and invitation to Junior Nationals at Steamboat.

billy!

Billy!

Billy Gozzi has coached Okemo Freestyle on and off for the past 15+ years. He is a former Bud Pro Mogul Tour competitor and continues to show people up as a competitive water skier. He also has a full quiver of 200+ cm skis and rear entry boots, for those days when you feel like skiing has just gotten too easy. You will find Billy on blackout shredding the bumps or throwing backflips in the park.

Ryan Heitsmith

Ryan Heitsmith splits his time in the winter between classes in Boston and laps on the Black Ridge. An alum of the team’s competitive A mogul program, Ryan coaches both bumps and park. This will be his second year on the coaching staff, making him one of the team’s young guns.

B.Lee

Brady Lee skied competitively out of Okemo for ten years.  Attending OMS during his junior and senior years of high school he competed on the national level placing third at Freeride Nationals in Copper, Colorado in 2005.  Brady won the Eastern Freestyle Championships at Mount Snow in 2003.  He has coached on and off for the past seven years.  The self proclaimed “fastest mogul skier in the east” Brady loved to shred the moguls at top speeds and is always open to showing the up and comers how to rip just as hard.  Despite two reconstructive hip surgeries Brady still loves to come out and soul shred with his friends and teach the team all that he can.

Law

This is Jon Norton’s 7th year coaching Okemo Freestyle. Jon began his Freestyle career as an original member of Okemo’s A Mogul Team in the early 90’s. Jon brings a wealth of competitive experience and success to the program, along with a fair share of intensity to get the team fired up.

Frank Provance started the Okemo Freestyle Program many years ago in the midst of a diverse ski-industry career as instructor, freestyle competitor, Hart Ski rep., and coach. He continues to help grow the program, coach part time, even has an OMARA scholarship named in his honor… and proves to the team that like a cheese, a mogul skier only gets better with age!

Delia Whyte

Delia Whyte is joining the coaching staff this year and will be primarily be working with the fresh start freestyle team. She is a former team member and has competed in both moguls and freeride competitions . Last season her achievements included numerous top three finishes in rail jams and slopestyle contests and an invitation to compete at Junior Nationals at Steamboat.
