Used Equipment

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

Hi Everyone!

I have added the OMARA Used Equipment Listing Page to the Website.  To keep from having to maintain 3 separate pages, one for each discipline, it is under the “About OMARA” Heading at the top of the page, then found in the right hand column.  You can also follow this link.

To get your used equipment listed on here, email me a description of what you have, how much you would like for it, and a good contact number you would like me to share.

OMARA Meeting and Informational

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

OMARA Members,

Please make plans to attend the OMARA Annual Meeting and Okemo Competitions Informational being held at the Sitting Bull Lounge at 7 PM on December 4th.  This is a great opportunity to see how OMARA, OMS, and Okemo Mountain Resort are structured to work together and promote our sports.

The coaches will be there as well to answer questions you might have for them and to give an introduction to all of the new-comers, both athletes and parents!

There will be some snack platters to munch on and a cash bar available.  This is geared as an Parent Informational and we encourage only the parents to attend.

See you Saturday,

2010 Okemo Ski and Snowboard Swap

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

The 2010 Okemo Ski and Snowboard Swap is almost here!!

The Annual Okemo Ski and Snowboard Swap to benefit Okemo Mountain School is back!  You will find new and used skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, helmets, goggles, outerwear, and more!  The best part about it is that all proceeds go to benefit the Okemo Mountain School in Ludlow, VT.  The Swap takes place in the Main Base Lodge of Okemo Mountain.

This year’s swap dates and times are:
Friday, November 19th; 4 – 7pm (3-4 pm preview hour; $5 admission or free for Okemo employees)
Saturday, November 20th; 9am – 5pm
Sunday, November 21st; 9am – 1pm

Also, if you are interested in selling your old gear (please no skis, boots, or bindings older than 7 years), you can sell it on consignment at the swap.  25% of the selling price goes to Okemo Mountain School – the remainder you will receive in a check about 3 weeks after the swap.  You may also choose just to donate your equipment – all donations are tax-deductible.  All gear must be dropped off on the following days and may not be brought to the swap during sale hours. Equipment drop-off is at the First Aid Building at the Main Base of Okemo Mountain.

Drop-off dates and times are:
Saturday, November 13th; 10am – 3pm
Sunday, November 14th; 10am – 3pm
Wednesday, November 17th; 10am – 3pm

Further questions, please contact Mariel Meringolo at mmeringolo@okemomountainschool.org or 802.228.1513

2010-11 Fit Day

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Fit Day is Sunday, September 12th from 10 am – 1 pm in the Jackson Gore courtyard.  It is a great place to see all of the coming season’s race gear and get your orders in at race pricing, which is a significant savings.  Several of the  coaches will be there to assist in proper gear selection.  Please consult one of us or a Ludlow shop that knows junior race before buying gear for your children.  If you cannot attend, please be in touch with your coach and they will help you can still get an order in at race price.

OMS Open House, Friday 2/19

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Dear OMARA communty:

In conjunction with our conferences scheduled for this Friday, OMS will be hosting an open house social for parents from 3:00-5:00pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to view the school, meet teachers and administrators, and find out how OMS might be a fantastic match for your child’s continued athletic and academic development.

Appetizers, beer and wine will be available.  As we travel into the final weeks of the season let’s gather together and toast our children and for what they have accomplished and you, their parents, for providing them with this opportunity.

Best,

WENDY

OMARA community coming together for a moving cause…

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

A note from Elizabeth Gilroy to the OMARA community; please read, as it points to our unity both on and off the slopes…

Okemommas…

We freeze at the slopes together watching our kids soar down mountains, celebrating when they do well, understanding our job at hand when they don’t, and supporting and hugging each other when they get hurt. We have fun skiing together, chatting on the chair lift rides, seeing each other in town at certain “establishments”, gathering at each other’s condos and houses, and those fun OMARA parties…we are women who love to ski, we are friends.

A few years ago, we had some awesome Okemommas shirts made (thx Lori Ford). While looking sharp, we also supported a great cause and sent a donation to the Susan Komen Fund, which as most of you know, seeks to find a cure for breast cancer – a disease that has touched many of us, our friends, sisters and mothers. This year we would like to take on a new cause, Pancreatic Cancer. 2009 was a sad year for us, we lost a fellow Okemomma and friend, Donna Saydek. Many of us have know Donna for years, and have watched with her as Hana has won numerous races and made all of us proud.

The organization that John has chosen is called Pancreatic Cancer Action Network – www.pancan.org <http://www.pancan.org/> .

Lori Ford is creating a 1/4 zip fleece for us made by Rossignol. OKEMOMMA will be embroidered in purple, the color of the pancreatic cancer cause, on the left side of the front. It will also have the Japanese character for “teruko”- Donna’s middle name and the name of her business – translates to “to shine”. Lori has ordered a few sizes/samples that I will have with me this weekend and the coming week for people to try on (sugar shack during lunch). You can also come over if it’s more convenient. My email is eegilroy13@gmail.com.  My cell is 315-725-3442 or the condo 228-7507. At this point we think they will cost around $75. Lori is working out the numbers now – I’ll let you know as soon as we know.

If you would like to join us and order a fleece please respond to this email, call me or find me in the sugar shack. Also, please feel free to forward this email to anyone you think would like to join us. The more orders we have the bigger the check we can send to the Panceratic Cancer Action Network. Help us help them find a way for earlier detection, let’s do this for Donna.
