I just wanted to say that all the athletes that competed this weekend impressed all the coaches. For a slow start to the season with limited training in the park and moguls everyone did a great job and skied very well.

In the what I learned this summer rail jam, James Maguire placed first in his age group with Sam Pawlak in second. Despite the limited competition in the womens category, Megan Ellmaker put on a strong showing stepping up to the more difficult features and took first place. Curtis Pazdar put on a great show despite placing, learning some new tricks and throwing down an impressive 450 on to the down box.

At the Killington B mogul event Cole Lovejoy and Chris Fox skied very well for having zero mogul training prior to the event. They both stood up both of their competition runs, and were excited to get the first competition under their belt. They are both rookies on the scene and should be proud of their performances.

All groups will be training both Weekend days 12/18, 12/19, meeting at the top of the “B” quad at 9am, and 1pm.

Hopefuls – Screenings are in two sessions this week. You will be looking for Pam, Rick or Jim in front of the Sugar House @ 9 AM.

9AM – Hopefuls with last names beginning with A-M
10AM -Hopefuls with last names beginning with N-Z

Devos – Look for Mariel @ 9AM in front of the Sugar House.

Devo PG – Look for Mike Solomon @ 10 AM in front of the Sugar House

Freestyle – Meet with Mike at the top of the A/B Quads at 9AM ready to go!

Snowboard – Meet with Luke in front of the Sitting Bull at 9AM!

I have added the OMARA Used Equipment Listing Page to the Website.  To keep from having to maintain 3 separate pages, one for each discipline, it is under the “About OMARA” Heading at the top of the page, then found in the right hand column.  You can also follow this link.

To get your used equipment listed on here, email me a description of what you have, how much you would like for it, and a good contact number you would like me to share.

Should be a great upcoming weekend, we received about 6″ of snow and more is in the forecast.

We have training on 12/11 and 12/12. Meet at the top of the A/B quad at 9am and 1pm. Please be on time!!

Hello All,

Remember that you are all invited to attend a Wine and Cheese Reception hosted by the Okemo Mountain School Board of Directors and the Karner Family at Clear Lake Furniture this Saturday, December 11th from 6:00-8:30pm at Clear Lake Furniture (Rt. 100 North on the right just past Bella Luna). 

This is a great chance to learn more about Okemo Mountain School and meet the Board of Directors.  You will have the opportunity to enjoy some wine, beer, and appetizers, while mingling with OMS parents – past, present, and future – as well as staff and faculty.

We will be meeting back at our usual location this weekend. At the top of the A/B quads. 9am and 1pm.

Anyone who has not payed their dues yet for this season please do so as soon as possible. You can pay in person at the Competition Center through Pete, Eric, or John.

Also the Racing Informational is this weekend Saturday the 4th in the Sitting bull at 7pm.

OMARA Members,

Please make plans to attend the OMARA Annual Meeting and Okemo Competitions Informational being held at the Sitting Bull Lounge at 7 PM on December 4th.  This is a great opportunity to see how OMARA, OMS, and Okemo Mountain Resort are structured to work together and promote our sports.

The coaches will be there as well to answer questions you might have for them and to give an introduction to all of the new-comers, both athletes and parents!

There will be some snack platters to munch on and a cash bar available.  This is geared as an Parent Informational and we encourage only the parents to attend.

We are gearing up for our first big screening weekend.   Stay tuned here through Friday for any changes, but as we stand now here is the plan.

Hopefuls

Meet in front of the Sugar House at 9 AM on the day you have scheduled – you’ll want to look / ask for Pam Trainer or Jim Whalen.

DEVOs

Meet in front of the Sugar House at 9 AM on your scheduled day – you’ll be looking/asking for Mariel Meringolo.
Freestyle

Meet at the Top of the B Quad at 9 AM with the rest of the group.  Mike Bruno is who you’ll want to catch up with.

Snowboarding

Meet in front of the Sitting Bull Lounge at 12 Noon for your scheduled screening.  Luke Bonang will meet you there.

Devo PG

Meet in front of the Sugar House Lodge at 10:00 AM – You’ll be looking and asking for Mike Solomon!

Both days this weekend we will be meeting in front of the Sitting Bull. not at the top of the A quad. Please be on time. 9am for morning session, 1pm for afternoon.

You must pay your dues in order to be able to train. If you are planing on attending this weekend and have not paid yet please see Pete or Eric before 9am in the competition center.
