U12 and U10 Weekend of 2/11 and 2/12

Hello U12 and U10 Families,

First of all, congrats to all of the U12s on a great day at Quechee!  SL is a challenging discipline and there definitely were some learning experiences for all of the athletes, but overall it was a great day.  Congrats to Merina Visnic 6th, Hayden Nelson 7th, Tia Spenlinhauer 8th, Kiera Laurion 9th, Kate Goodrich 10th, Cole Firstbrook 1st, Mike Amato 2nd, and Gabe Dawkins 4th.  The results are now available on the VARA website here: http://www.vara.org/results/mvc-u12-stubby-sl/1088/

U10 Après-Ski Social: Several of the U10s and their families are meeting up at the Sitting Bull after skiing on Saturday, February 11 (starting around 3:30) for some snacks and beverages and the opportunity to get to know one another better.  All U10s, families and coaches are invited to grab some tables and hang out for a little while.   Look for a concentration of Okemo Alpine Racing jackets in size 12 and smaller.

U12 Super G Camp at Okemo Sunday 2/12:
***Remember that you had to sign your child up for this with me and your child has to be born in 2005 to participate.*** Athletes should wear their GS suits like a race day (but have warm clothing over it – pants and jacket!) and be on their GS skis for this event. Just like race day, there will be a registration in the upstairs of the Okemo Competition Center.   Registration is from 7:30-8:15 am.  Entry fee for the camp is $40, but will be discounted for Okemo athletes – I apologize, but I have not yet been told the amount of discount.  Athletes should register and get their bib (they have bibs even though it isn’t a race) and then meet in the basement of the Summit Lodge for the camp meeting at 9 am sharp – be early. They will be with the camp all morning, have lunch from about 11:45-12:30 (we are encouraging everyone to eat in the summit lodge because we will meet back there at 12:30 pm for the afternoon) and then be back with the camp until 3 pm.  Much easier logistically than a typical race day.
That’s all for now!
