U10 GS Race at Pico MOnday 1/20 Details

Hello U12 and U10 Families,
Here is the info for Monday’s race at Pico for U10 families.  Please see below.
U12 Families – 2002 YOB U12 parents – don’t forget to let me know if your athlete is IN or OUT for Super G camp on Sunday 1/26.  Unlike our normal races, I will not enter them unless I get a confirmation from you!  Also, I made a mistake in my last email, cost of the Super G camp for Okemo athletes will be $30, discounted from $40.

Pico GS Race on Monday, January 20th Details:

Registration will begin at 7:30 am in the upstairs of the NEW Andrea Mead Lawrence Lodge, which is in between the Pico Ski Club and The Ski Shop/Main Lodge (new location for registration than in the past!).
We still have to leave our bags and get ready downstairs in the Main Base Lodge (park on the right hand side of the main parking lot and go straight through the condos – base lodge is on the right).
Have your child go to registration with you so that they begin to learn the process and can eventually go on their own – the more we involve them with the entire race day process the better!!  Entry fee is $30 (payable in cash or check payable to Pico Ski Club only), which includes your child’s lift ticket.    Again, please make sure they put their bibs on immediately and do not lose them!
Coaches at the race will be myself, Christie, Al, Amy, and Richie.
Please note: Parent lift tickets are available for $45 but only two per racer are allowed. They must be purchased at the main ticket office between the parking lot and the base lodge.  In the past they have only been sold until 9:00 AM and you had to know your child’s bib number – be prepared! As many of you know, the race can be viewed on foot without lift access.

We will meet the children at the base of the B-slope lift/bottom of the race trail (go out of the base lodge and go left if you are facing the mountain) at 8:20 am to go for a free run and inspect the course.

The race is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am and will take place on B-Slope – to the left of the base lodge if you are looking up at the mountain.  Second run will start about 5-15 minutes after the conclusion of the first run.  Help your child manage their time to be at the start 40-50 bib numbers ahead of their own.  Any 2006 birthdays will run with the rest of the U10s since by VARA rules they are U10s and not U8s – also remember they are also included with the U10s for awards.

Awards will take place in front of the ski club, which is basically at the finish area, about 15-20 minutes after the completion of the race.  We will unfortunately not be doing the post-race free-skiing program that day due to the holiday and available terrain.

Driving directions to get to Pico:  Head north on Rt. 100 – make a right to stay on Rt. 100 just before Jackson Gore.  Turn left on Rt. 4 and go past the Bear Mtn. gondola for Killington and past the Killington access road.  About 2 miles past that, you will see The Inn at Long Trail on your right – Pico will be on your left just down the hill.  It takes about 35-45 minutes to get there.  Beware of cops in Plymouth on Rt 100 when the speed limit drops!!
