Meet the U16/U19 – Weekend and OMS USSA Coaches!

Cody Larson – Head Alpine U16/19 USSA Coach

Cody will take over the position that was created last year to directly oversee the U16 USSA athletes at OMS and the U16 and U19 Competition Center athletes. Cody comes to us from the Pico Ski Club where he was the Head U16/19 coach.  Cody was at Pico for the last 6 years, but is looking forward to joining the Okemo family.  During the summers, Cody is the superintendent at the Bomoseen Golf Club.  Cody is a USSA Level 200 certified coach and was, himself, an accomplished athlete.  He grew up in Vermont and attended KMS.  He was a member of the VARA team and a Whistler Cup participant.  He comes with the highest recommendation from his references and is well-liked by our current coaching staff.

Cody says of himself, “My coaching philosophy places precedence on athlete management and best utilizing the training venue to achieve optimum productivity each session.  I work hard to create a positive environment within the team and always lead by example. During daily training, I strive to challenge each individual athlete with attainable, personalized objectives. Although I do not argue that gate training volume is critical to success for elite level racers, I place greater value on directed freeskiing and drill work for athlete skill development.”

On joining the team at Okemo, Cody says, “I’m thrilled to come on board with a program that has such a rich history of ski racing excellence and has produced many prolific race families perpetuating our great sport. I’m excited to work with the athletes in the upgraded training facilities and alongside a great group of coaches. I look forward to a season of fast skiing!”

Cody will be at Fit Day in September 2017 and will officially begin work mid-October 2017.  We couldn’t be more thrilled to have him joining our team!
